Coach Rios Heads Home

The Caller probably has the best write-up on Coach Rios’ departure for Hebbronville.

Rios, who has been the head football coach and athletic director at Falfurrias the past three seasons, decided last week to move to his hometown of Hebbronville and take the same roles.

“It’s my hometown. They’ve been struggling,” said Rios, who played on the Longhorns’ 1986 and 1987 playoff teams. “It’s bittersweet because I loved Fal. The kids were awesome, the administrators, the teachers were great. I wouldn’t have left for any other situation, but my hometown needed me.”

But KRIS got the scoop.

It’s official, Falfurrias Head Football Coach Joe Rios is saying goodbye to the Jersey’s and hello to Hebbronville. We are the first to report this move.

Rios spent the last three seasons at the helm in Falfurrias compiling a record of 9-21, not terribly impressive unless you realize that Rios was the man who helped the Jerseys snap a 30+ game losing streak spanning 4-seasons.
