BROWNSVILLE, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brownsville Station arrested a man early Thursday morning who is wanted in Pennsylvania on charges of murder and burglary.

David Edick, 27, of Pittsburgh is wanted in the Aug. 31 shooting death of Ryan Beal at an apartment in Swissvale, Pa. He was apprehended on a levee east of the Brownsville Port of Entry after a remote camera operator spotted what appeared to be illegal immigrant traffic.

Agents responded to the location and apprehended Edick, who was attempting to flee to Mexico. Edick was carrying a loaded revolver at the time of his arrest. His vehicle was later located at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He was turned over to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office pending extradition by the Allegheny County Police Department.

This arrest is similar to a May 25, 2007, case where Harlingen agents arrested a Canadian man, as he was attempting to flee to Mexico. He was wanted for the murders of a man in upstate New York and two men in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was later convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

To report suspicious activity, call the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector’s toll-free telephone number at 800-863-9382.
